Never realized that Kurt Russell was born on St. Patrick's Day. Maybe that's why he's been so lucky. Of course, there's the talent thing.
He started his acting career when he was eleven, one of his first roles being in an Elvis movie. Foreshadowing things to come, as he played Elvis and an Elvis impersonator when he grew up. He did several Disney movies and various parts on TV. Kurt was one of the fortunate kids who became a well-adjusted adult, and had a successful career even to this day, when he turns 61.
Some of my favorite Kurt movies were from 1981 onwards. They include the early John Carpenter ones (Escape from New York, The Thing and Big Trouble in Little China), Overboard, Tango and Cash (with Sylvester Stallone), Stargate (with James Spader), Executive Decision, Escape from L.A., Soldier (with Jason Scott Lee), and Sky High (with Steven Strait).
