WoW - Wallpaper of the Week - extra

Paul Wesley (28 today) first stood out to me when I saw him in Fallen. But I had this nagging feeling I'd seen him before. Did some searching, and found he'd played Lex's brother on an episode of Smallville. He comes across as dark and broody to me, which is not one of my turn-ons. It did make him prime vampire material, and being something of a WB It-boy, no surprise that he's now on The Vampire Diaries with another It-boy. Paul's character could almost be considered a vampire with a soul, rather like another revenant of the dark and broody variety. Unlike that show, though, I just can't get into The Vampire Diaries.

Frankly, I'll be glad when this iteration of vampire mania has run it's course. Which is likely to be another couple of years, at least, after the last of those movies comes out.

Flashback

Previously I've discussed a couple of my first serious crushes. But now it's time for another. Bobby Sherman, who turns 67 today. Oh, Steve, how right you were.

I don't recall him on The Monkees, oddly enough. Nor am I sure I watched him on Here Come the Brides, though I must've, to appreciate the finer points of Ishmael.

However, I do remember when he appeared on The Partridge Family. It was almost more than my little heart could take. He was so pretty, and not anorexic-looking, as teen idols of the time oft were. In fact, it almost looked like he had a little baby fat or something, which softened his face beautifully. Now I wish I hadn't gotten rid of my copy of Here Comes Bobby in my great record-to-CD conversion, since it also had the foldout poster of him wearing leather pants and fringe. How many times I looked at it, I couldn't even guess. What a thing to give an impressionable young grade school child! Yes, folks, I had it baaaad for him.

He eventually retired from showbiz and became an EMT, bless his heart. But if you wish to bask in the glow that was Bobby, check here and listen here.

WoW - Wallpaper of the Week - extra

I more found the wallpapers above of Chris Cornell (who's now 46) then made them. Couldn't find any good photos of Chris which hadn't already been turned into wallpapers by others. No surprise, just look at him, he's gorgeous.

Another one of those odd ones whom I like better with shorter hair. Back in the Soundgarden days he really looked like Jesus. But I wonder if Jesus had a four-octave range? Much as I loved Pearl Jam (partly 'cause Eddie and I have a similar range, so I could sing along easily with their songs), I wanted to be able to sing like Chris. Black Hole Sun, at least, I can manage.

No surprise that he did some modelling. I hadn't realized he was 6' 3"; he reads shorter to me.

Neat that Soundgarden is getting back together. Keep up the good work, Chris. I have no doubt you will.

WoW - Wallpaper of the Week

I'm back and forth about Josh Hartnett, who turns 32 on Wednesday. I find it odd when people say he's good-looking. He's not. The squinty eyes, the Neanderthal-esque brow, the wide face, I don't see it. Yet I do find him oddly attractive. The body's nice, too, not too bulky and not too scrawny. See more of it here. Plus I have to give it to him in the voice department. Low and sultry, just like I like 'em.

On Sunday, James Lafferty will be 25. Him, I'm not ambivalent about at all. Never been a regular watcher of One Tree Hill (yeah, shocker). But James I often find more tantalizing than Chaddie. He stradles the line between pretty and handsome. And hallelujah when he's shirtless. Some of the poses they put him in are pure artistry. When's he gonna do more movies and stuff, dagummit?
