WoW - Wallpaper of the Week

Here's another of those complete opposite posts.

First is he who hits the big 4-0 today, one of the first Real World-ers, Eric Nies. Hard to believe the first Real World premiered back in '92, almost twenty years ago. It ushered in the end of MTV as a music video channel only, and started the whole reality show trend, for good or ill. Mostly ill, imho.

Anyway, Eric was a bright spot. A hot, hunky, oft-times shirtless bright spot. He wasn't even 21 when he started the show. Then he went on to exploit that body in exercise videos and other ventures. Nowadays he's let himself go in the grooming department, but still seems to have a pretty slammin' bod.

From beefy and American to pretty and British, we turn to Gregg Sulkin, who'll be 19 later on this week. I stumbled across him on Wizards of Waverly Place. Yes, I watch it; it's a fun and silly show, so sue me. Anyway, Gregg is cute as a button, and the accent just adds to that. It'll be interesting to see where he'll be in twenty years. Big star or "Confessions of a Teen Idol: The Next Generation"? Only time will tell.

Ah, Smallville, how we will miss thee

So last week was the series finale of Smallville. I was kind of disappointed. The whole Darkseid storyline wrap up felt very deus-ex-machina. And couldn't they have given a closeup of Welling, head to toe, in the Superman duds? Yet I was still crying at the end, 'cause I'm a big old sap, and it was neat to finally see him become Superman.

I wonder if there'll ever be another show with such shameless exploitation of such a variety of hot guys? Maybe 90210, if it lasts longer. It's amazing that Smallville wasn't a Spelling show, since Charmed was neck-and-neck in that department.

The cast has inspired many a wallpaper here. In fact, the launch of this blog (two years ago yesterday) was of one of them. So I thought I'd do an homage. Also fear not, I'll be doing more wallpapers in the future of guys from the show, since it's a goldmine (no, not that kind) that's far from being exhausted. Thank you, WB/CW, for keeping it on for 10 years. Yep, the stories got crappier as the series continued, but the guys, oh, the guys...

So here are a few, in alphabetical order:

WoW - Wallpaper of the Week

Tahmoh Penikett will be 36 by the end of the week. What does "Tahmoh" mean, anyway? He prefers not to reveal the meaning, because he promised his grandmother or something. It's from the Upper Tanana language, if that helps. Personally, I think his full name translates to "He-who-has-the-James-Marsters-cheekbones-and-Tom-Welling-eyes-and-body-of-a-really-hot-professional-wrestler". But that's just a guess.

I've not seen anything he's done, really, as I wasn't the biggest Battlestar Galactica or Dollhouse fan. Couldn't watch much of him in Riverworld, due to all the liberties they took with the book. What little of him I've seen in interviews makes me hope he'll do some show I like, since he seems to be a genuinely nice guy, with one of the most restful voices I've ever heard. Oh, and he's outstandingly gorgeous.

WoW - Wallpaper of the Week - extra

This is another one of those "don't know much about 'em, but they sure am pretty" posts.

First is now 24-year-old Hunter Parrish. He's been in various movies and TV shows, but most likely you know him from Showtime's Weeds.

Then we have Brad Rowe, who'll soon be 41. He played gay back in '98, then again in '07. He was cute in his younger days. Now he's pretty hunky. Mmmm.

Site news

My OCD is kicking in, so I'm re-sorting the post categories. Now all generic things (athlete, gay roles, vampires, etc) will be at the top. Following will be TV shows and movies (Angel, Charmed, TRON), then the actual celebrity names. I hope this will make things easier to find. Cheers, all, and thanks for viewing the blog. :)

WoW - Wallpaper of the Week

So I've previously shared the Victor Webster love, and why not? I mean, woof! But now it's time to examine his Mutant X co-star, Forbes March, who turns 38 this week. Y'all might be surprised, but there are times I prefer him to Victor. Shocking, I know. It's the combination of pretty yet manly that gets me. And the hair, gotta love the hair.

I've been wanting to do Forbes wallpaper for a while, but couldn't find any useful photos. But I've had more luck of late, so here you go.

He's also gay-friendly, or at least in his acting, as he's played gay twice. Bravo, Mister March!

Not too much of a fan of his hair lately, though. It's gotten long and shaggy and messy. Normally I like the long hair, but Forbes looks better with it shorter.

You can see more of his various looks here. If you're interested in Mutant X slash, you can get started here.

WoW - Wallpaper of the Week

I really don't know a thing about soon-to-be 28 year old Henry Cavill, except that he's British and cast as the lead in the upcoming Superman movie. Ironically, he was going to be Superman in the last "reboot", but after a change of directors he lost out to Brandon Routh. Cavill came to most people's notice in The Tudors, which I never saw since I don't get Showtime. I'm keeping an open mind about him playing the Man of Steel. Especially after checking out a few of his looks.

Much, much more interesting (to me, anyway) is Robert Buckley, turning the big three-0 this week. Stunning, yummy, hotsie-totsie, humina-humina are a few of the more worksafe terms that come to mind when I look at him. I think I first became aware of him because of Lipstick Jungle. I didn't watch it,  but his pictures were all over the internet. Yowza! Then he did Flirting with Forty, and I was in love. Or something a bit more carnal. Now Robert's a regular on One Tree Hill, where he sort of replaced the Chad.

A plethora of great photos can be found at Just Jared. This interview while he was doing Lipstick Jungle reveals he was an economics major, which means he's smart as well as hunky. It also shows his sly sarcasm. Which all amps the sexy in my book. An appreciation of much of his body of work can be found here.

DDoM - DeCoteau Dude of the Month

You may know this month's guy if you're a fan of Glee. It's none other than Cory Monteith, who'll be 29 later this month. "What?" I hear you say, "Cory was in one of David's epics?"

Cory was born and raised in Canada, which I didn't know, eh? Lucky for him that he lived in British Columbia, 'cause it made it easy to get acting work in Hollywood North (Vancouver, that is). He had small parts in most of the shows filming up there, including Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis, Supernatural, Smallville, Kyle XY and Flash Gordon

Then in 2005 he got his film break, appearing in DeCoteau's Killer Bash. He showed off the contractually obligated amount of skin required by any young man in a Decoteau film. Right after that, he was in Bloody Mary, and showed off almost everything. The things a starving young actor will do for a part. After that, his film work was almost exclusively in the horror genre. Then along came Glee, and the rest is history.

WoW - Wallpaper of the Week

I'll be honest. Channing Tatum doesn't do much for me. He's kind of good-looking, kind of built, and can dance and do martial arts, and used to do a bunch of modelling. A movie actor primarily, though I've hardly seen anything he's in. Mostly due to lack of interest, doncha know. But for those whose tastes lean that way, a wallpaper of him did I make.

I didn't realized he spent so much time in Florida, having gone to school in Tampa and lived in Miami for a while. He'll be 31 on Tuesday. That's all I care to dwell on him.

Much rather would I dwell on the beauty that is Tom Welling. I've dwelled on him before, in fact, more than once. You gotta love the Smallville guys. Speaking of which, this is the 10th and last season. There's rumors of an 11th, but I doubt it, as they'd have to pay Tom many truckloads of money to get him to stay. They could possibly entice him by letting him direct more episodes, or have a cut of the syndication rights. But I think this is it. A spin-off is possible, I suppose, and if it starred Justin Hartley, I'd definitely watch. There's even a group on Facebook that agrees with me. Tom's birthday is the same as Channing's, though Mr. Welling will be 34.

Anyway, I'm going to return to gazing at Tom. It's a pastime I highly recommmend.
