Flashback

Hey lookie, it's MacGyver! Also known as Jack O'Neill. In the real world, though, he's Richard Dean Anderson, and he's 60 today.

In the '70's, he started out, like many actors do, in soaps (General Hospital, to be specific). After a few odds-and-ends parts, he got his first signature role in the late '80's as the aforementioned MacGyver. You wonder how many guys tried the mullet because of him. Few pulled the look off, but Richard was one of them. He rocked that 'do for sure.

Oh, just before he started MacGyver, he appeared in that classic "sports" event of the '70's and 80's, Battle of the Network Stars. Which was really an extraordinarily thin excuse to parade various hot celebs in as little as possible whilst getting them hot and sweaty. Not that there's anything wrong with that. See, that's a show they should bring back. Anyway, don't remember RDA being on it, oddly enough. Could I have missed it? I know I saw the one that followed, that's for sure. For at least three reasons.

He did more this'n'that after MacGyver, but it wasn't that long before he got the other role he's known for, Jack O'Neill on Stargate SG-1 and the spin-offs. He still pops in as O'Neill from time to time, even now.

OK, now be honest. You'd still do him, right? Yeah, he's 60, but have you seen him? Far from old and feeble. He's still looking mm-mm-good. I know you're thinking it; I just came out and said it, that's all.
