WoW - Wallpaper of the Week

I loved Gilmore Girls and miss it terribly. The writing, the acting, Rory's guys. Like Jared, Chad and Milo. And her last, played by Thursday's birthday boy (and a WB "it-boy") Matt Czuchry. I was never a big Logan fan, maybe b/c I found Czuchry... vague. His voice, body, face, he was incomplete to me. Everything I've heard about him indicates he's a really nice guy and all. He's good friends with Ed Quinn, which earns high points in my book. And Matt's been getting work since. He's just another one I'd kick out of bed for leaving cracker crumbs. The other three previously mentioned, they could be crumby in my bed. Or Scott, for that matter. Who could be all kinds of messy and I wouldn't mind.

Where was I? Oh, next birthday. Friday. Eduardo Verástegui. Who, you may ask? He's a Mexican model/singer/actor. He did a guest spot on Charmed, which is where I first became aware of him. He's a devout Roman Catholic, with all that it entails. Which is why I'm not a practicing Catholic anymore. Or as I often say, "I believe in God, I just don't believe in religion." In any case, he's nice to look at.

Flashback

Today is Bruce Boxleitner's 60th birthday. He initially attracted my interest as the title character in 1982's TRON, for which a sequel is in the works. That interest was only enhanced by Scarecrow and Mrs. King. He also appeared on Battle of the Network Stars around that time on the CBS team, but before Scarecrow, so I'm not sure what qualified him to be on.

The next decade saw his major return, and how many know him now, as John Sheridan on Babylon 5. He's stayed busy, doing TV and movies and even dabbling in writing. But to many of us, he'll always be TRON or Lee Stetson.

WoW - Wallpaper of the Week

Interesting. Two birthdays this week are of actors who've portrayed vampires, thus leading to many thinking they're "all that", I not being one of them.

I've said previously how I'm not thrilled with Robert Pattinson (birthday on Thursday). But I found a picture of him, finally, that I liked for wallpaper purposes, so decided to make one. It's from his Harry Potter days, before he curtailed his efforts with personal hygeine. Him and Matthew, what's the deal?

The other is David Boreanaz, who turns 41 on Sunday. Don't get me wrong, I loved Angel (moreso than Buffy, in a lot of ways). I just don't find Boreanaz himself that attractive, and I don't know why. He's tall, dark and funny, everything you could want in a guy. Oh well. If any of you want him, I won't put up a fight. Justin or Rusty, though, you'll have a tussle on your hands.

Jason Brooks

Jeffrey Donovan

A couple more. So earlier this year I devoted time to cast members of The Pretender. This post is of a couple of semi-regulars, who coincidentally have birthdays only a day apart, and whose first names begin with 'J'.

First we'll look at Jason Brooks, who played Miss Parker's boyfriend, and is 44 today. I vaguely noticed him when I watched the show, thinking he wasn't bad looking. I certainly didn't see him before that while he was doing Days of our Lives.

I more than noticed him once he was on Baywatch Hawaii. Yes, even over Michael and the other Jason. Compare and contrast at your leisure. He's stayed employed since then, but not done anywhere near as much shirtlessness, more's the pity. The latest thing he did was a minor role in that movie. If only they did another Baywatch reunion. One can dream, can not one?

Next is Jeffrey Donovan, who'll be 42 tomorrow. He was Jarod's brother Kyle. He did tend to play the psycho. Probably b/c he had this dangerous look and vibe to him. Though once in a while, he did have roles where he wasn't quite so crazy. But through his career, he's always been sexy somehow. It's not like he's classically handsome, and has anyone else noticed the man has no chin? And yet, he oozes this inexplicable animal magnetism.

Finally he found the role that seems to fit him like a glove, Michael Weston on Burn Notice. And who knew how good he looked when he smiled, much less that he was funny? His character has this lovely dry sarcasm, plus he gets to play off Bruce Campbell regularly. Comic genius. I hope the irony of Jeffrey the Chinless Wonder working opposite the "Killer Chin" is not lost on anybody. You know, maybe it's the spy mystique, but Jeffrey's gotten even hotter, if that's even possible. He was featured last year in TV Guide's Hot Bodies of Summer. More to see of that here and here.

I do wish he'd lay off the accents, though; they're so hit or miss. Sometimes they're good. But other times, it sounds like Jeffrey's been taking lessons at the David Boreanaz school of dialect.

WoW - Wallpaper of the Week

Thursday is fitness/underwear model Anton Antipov's birthday. From Russia originally, he's living in New York now. Which would be one of the few reasons I'd even consider moving there. I mean, come on, the guy's got an insane body.

Aussie Justin Melvey will be 41 on Friday. On this side of the world, you may have seen him on Days of our Lives and briefly on General Hospital. If not, check this out. In his home country he's done, amongst other things, Dancing With The Stars.

DDoM - DeCoteau Dude of the Month

Here's another student of Voodoo Academy, Drew Fuller, whose birthday is May 19th. Some might say it was good preparation for his role as Chris Halliwell on that other guilty pleasure full of eye-candy, Charmed. After Voodoo, he was on the short-lived series Black Sash with one of my earlier offerings, Corey Sevier. Now he's a regular on Army Wives.

He's working on a movie due out next year, The Story of Bonnie and Clyde. With other cast members being Kevin Zegers, Matt Dallas and Shawn Ashmore, it's making me think Mobsters and Young Guns for the 21st century.

Flashback

Riptide. What can one say about Riptide? It was so of it's time (early '80s), and yes, it was basically a Magnum ripoff, but it did introduce Perry King to the world. And Joe Penny, too, but that's another post.

Yep, Perry even had the Selleck 'stache, but it looked slightly less Village People on him. He hasn't stopped working since, his resume is quite impressive. Plus, he may be 62 today, but he's another one that's still looking mighty fine.

WoW - Wallpaper of the Week

Happy birthday today to previously featured Tom Welling. 'Nuff said.

On Friday, Jeff Timmons will be celebrating. He is, in my opinion, the best-looking member of 98 Degrees, and the best singer, as I've mentioned previously. Between the puppy-dog eyes, the overall prettiness, the buff bod, and the clear tenor, I'm gone, baby, gone.

And last but by no means least, Saturday is that special day for Bailey Chase. I remember when I first saw him on Buffy. Of course the focus was on Riley, him being Buffy's boyfriend and all. But I was really interested in the quiet, stolid, square-jawed Graham. And don't get me started on those captivating eyes of his. Found out later he'd had guest spots in a couple of my guilty pleasures, Baywatch and Pacific Blue. He played bad in an episode of V.I.P., of all things. He was on As the World Turns for a couple of years, and now is a regular on Saving Grace. And last year I was pleasantly surprised to see Bailey get some well-deserved recognition by TV Guide as one of the ten sexiest men on television. That's where I got the basketball shot I used for the second wallpaper of him above. Can you see why I wouldn't kick him out of bed for a little dribbling?

WoW - Wallpaper of the Week

Tuesday has two birthdays of interest.

First for your consideration is the 38-year-old Whoa! kid Joey Lawrence. Yeah, he goes by Joseph now, but he'll always be Joey to me. Don't like the bald look, but he does get more impressive, the older he gets. The next brother down turned out nice too, but the youngest, not so much. To me, anyway.

Shemar Moore turns 40, and is still sumptuous. He was on The Young and the Restless for a few years. You can see him now (not nearly as shirtless, sadly) on Criminal Minds.
